The furniture company Loscertales was created by Luciano Loscertales Sanz in 1890 in Saragossa, Spain. The factories were created in a context where industrialization was gradually developped in some areas, such as creation of furniture and decoration. At the beginning of the 20th century, the manufacture opened a shop in Saragossa to exhibit its most beautiful items. The company rapidly flourished and the interior decoration projects were more and more common, in parallel of the furniture manufacture. Simon, Luciano’ son, was associated in 1912 to his dad’s company after his formation in furniture history, in noble woods work and his different travels all around Europe. In little more than a decade, the company exploded and opened branches in different cities of Spain.
The Spanish Civil War decreased the company, forced during a time to manufacture vehicles and military equipments, but Loscertales continued its expansion after this episode until the death of Simon in 1971. The company took the name of Simon Loscertales Bona in 1945 and if international clients were already closed to the firm at this period thanks to most prestigious international fairs and to Madrid and San Sebastian shops, it was in the 1960s taht the company took an international way. In the United States for example, the company became a reference in New-York thanks to the establishment of an important number of sales points in legendaries furniture houses such as “Sloane”, and offices were opened in New York, Washington and San Francisco. In Europe, there was no country where the company didn’t exported and its items were exhibited in many Spanish or stranger state institution,s as in private and individual places. The expansion took such an international scale that the Loscertales items could be ordered in the London Harrod’s shops.
At Loscertales, the process of manufacture was industrial, realized with machines permitting a precise work, a high artistic level thanks to quality of materials. The manufacture wanted to be a modern industrial organization with a various production from the reproduction of historical styles to the manufacture of modern design items. The whole process of modeling, manufacture and exportation was realized by the company itself and nothing was outsourced.
The Loscertales family adventure ended in 1995 after an interrupted success since 1890. The furniture is today still appreciated by the European and Americans antique dealers and private clients.
