Myriam Caumes was born in Paris. She has devoted more than twenty years to the artistic dressage of horses. Her equestrian representations have taken her under the light of flashes as a mannequin and model on horseback as well as in the shadow of cinema dubbing as an equestrian stuntwoman and physical understudy of the greatest French and international actresses. The vicissitudes of life kept him away from horses and the cinema. From this rupture and from some circumstances was born a need to express. Passionate about design and graphics, this need is taking shape today through a plastic practice developed at the École Supérieure d’Art Graphique (ESAG, formerly Atelier Met in Penninghen) and at the Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Resolutely contemporary and graphic, Myriam Caumes’s painting is inspired by the primitive arts, their role of intermediation between human reality and the invisible world, but also wabi-sabi and Scandinavian design. The work of textures and matter comes to translate the poetics, as creative power, of the vital forces. Made up of natural pigments, the canvas is reworked by scarifications before being matified, sometimes worked with shinny resin, creating a play of shadows and light.
