Walter Comelli (1920-2000) was born in Parma, Italy, but worked and lived in Haute-Savoie (France) until his death. Illustrator and painter, lover of art in general, he dedicated himself to art craft by creating his workshop, active between 1942 and 1981, in which he regained techniques of the 18th century of lacquers and Martin varnish. Locally recognized by the Great department prize of professions for his whole work of lacquer master in 1981, he was also recognized on the international level. He participated on the restorations of prestigious collections such as a Louis XVI commode owned by Marie-Antoinette or a desk and a red lacquer corner cabinet owns by the Prince Aga Khan.
