Sat man portrait dressed in a black tuxedo with a bow tie, a proper outfit of a bourgeois from the late 10th century, his right hand remaining on the armrest of his armchair. Molded and carved gilt wood frame, Louis XV style with ornament of shells and vegetal on angles.

Work from the late 19th century, Napoléon III period. Cleaned painting in perfect condition consistent with age and use.

 

Black ink stamp « H. Blanchet , Paris, 17 rue de Grenelle St Germain » on the backf of the canvas, conveys to, À la Palette d’Or, a supplier of canvas settled in the 17 rue de Grenelle at Paris between 1867-1886.
