Eero Aarnio (1932) is a Finnish designer. After studying at the School for Art and Design in Helsinki, he founded his agency in 1962. Firstly, he supported the line of the Finnish designers of the first part of the century, he imagined handmade furniture with natural material, such as his Mushroom stool in wicker. He became worldwide well-known thanks to his more modern pieces, using fiberglass in innovative ways. In those years he designed the “Ball chair”, “Pastille”, which won the American Industrial Design Award, and “Pony”, a horse-shaped ludic armchair, created in 1973.

It’s this ludic way of thinking that he developed collaborating with the Italian Studio Magis in 2004. After vainly searching for any furniture adapted to his daughter, Eugenio Perazza, who founded the studio in 1976, decided to create his own furniture set for kids. It wasn’t a simple smaller reproduction of pieces made for adults but ones really designed for kids. After Enzo Mari, Marcel Wander and Philippe Starck, Eero Aarnio joined the team and created “Puppy”, a hybrid sculpture mixing toy and furniture purposes, which, while is still produced by the studio, already entered the collections of the MoMA in New York City and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
