Cantilever chair in leather and chromed metal, 1970’s

Cantilever shape chair, “Pattino” model, in leather and chromed metal. Dark brown leather back and seat. Chromed metal structure without back legs, standing on joined cantilever front legs. Curved armrests with leather manchettes.

Another available pair. One armchair created by Rudolf Glatzel for the “Art Collection” furniture collection for Walter Knoll, in the 1970’s. The two others come from the “Dreipunkt” edition and of a near similar model.

Walter Knoll (1876-1971) is the son of Wilhelm Knoll, the founder of the Knoll dynasty, who opened his leather factory. In 1906, the company specialized in leather seats production. In order to turn to modernity, Walter Knoll decided to found his own company Walter Knoll & Co. in 1925.
Among his interior decoration projects, he furnished apartments built by Mies van der Rohe. He constantly stayed in a modernity will thanks to new materials (aluminium) and new patterns as the Prodomo chair, the Vostra armchair or the Bucket chair 369. In 1964, Walter Knoll retires and the company is handed to Robert Knoll.
