Maison Gagneau, Pair of lamps in porcelain, end 19th century

Pair of bottle shape Louis XVI style lamps in cracked beige celadon porcelain.
Chiselled and gilt bronze mount. High part with a decor of leaves friezes, twisted ring and geometrical openwork motifs. Decor of laurel wreath fixed by a ribbon forming handholds on each side on the vase belly. Circular base standing on four legs adorned with triglyphs. It is decorated by rectangular cartouches where torchs and acanthus leaves figured and topped by a ribonned laurel wreath.

Work realized at the end of the 19th century.

Signed “Gagneau – 115 rue Lafayette” on the high part of the mount.

Old petrol lamp equiped by a new and functional electrical system.

The cracked celadon porcelain imitates the Guan ware, official pieces of the Chinese Song Dynasty (960-1279) and fully appreciated during the 18th under the Qianlong Dynasty (1736-1795).
