Stow Davis was a manufacturer of kitchen and dining tables at the end of the 19th century created in 1885 by Russel Stow and George Davis. From 1889, the company began to produce boardroom tables that was a specialty of the company during many decades. In the 1890’s they proposed a large collection of library, office, dining tables and pedestal tables. Their furniture were industrially made and not handmade due to their simplicity. Circa 1916 they produced wood and leather bank furniture including Adam or Colonial Revival style boardroom tables, chairs and desks.
In 1928, they began to produce furniture with steel but they still use wood during the 1920’s by using revival styles such as Baronial, Georgian, Adam or Jacobean. In the late 1930’s, furniture were created with modern lines, curved tops, rounded corners, etc. They were also inspired by the scandinavian style by using mahogany veneer. During World War II, they manufactured functional desks, chairs and beds.
During the 1950’s and 1960’s, their production was very different : a modern style furniture collection that mixed wood, steel, leather, vynil, smoked glass and fabric such as nylon and a more antique style production that use mahogany or walnut with historical English and Italian influences. During the following decades, they more and more produced modern furniture with modern materials such as plastic, metals, steel, plywood, etc.

The logo under our armchair was created in the 1950’s and lasted to 1985 with streamlined S attached to a D.
