Guy Lefevre, Pair of gilt brass and Plexiglas end tables, 1970’s

Guy Lefevre pour Maison Jansen, in the style of.

Pair of square end tables with gilt brass structure made of a geometrical stand forming angles on the floor. The stand supports two upper square frames in gilt brass joined by lights uprights, giving an impression of floating between both of them. The upper frame welcomes a Plexiglas tray covered with tawny leather gilt with small little irons with a revisited meanders frieze.

Work in the taste of Guy Lefèvre for Maison Jansen.

Guy Lefèvre was a French designer who worked on contrasts between materials, playing on glossy and mat. His furniture is geometrical and very elegant in its line. One of its characteristics for tables or consoles that can be seen in this pair of end tables is the thin space between the plate and the lower frame that give an impression of lightness.

This pair can also remind the backgammon game table designed by Alain Delon for Maison Jansen and exhibited during the Furniture Salon (Salone del Mobile) at Milano in 1975. Indeed, it also used brass and very elegant geometrical shapes.
