Alfred Hendrickx, Set of six cane rosewood chairs, 1960’s

Alfred Hendrickx, attributed to.

Set of six rosewood chairs standing on four square shaped legs, linked each other by four stretchers. Cane and slightly curved backrest. Curved black leatherette seat with central sewing forming a slight hollow.

Work realized in the 1960’s.

Alfred Hendrickx (1931) is a Belgian designer that collaborated with Belform, a Belgian furniture manufacturer from the middle of the 20th century. They designed together sober and elegant furniture with an industrial design and close to the Scandinavian style. He essentially used wood such as rosewood or teak but also less luxurious materials as laminate and steel.

Hendrickx creations of the 1950’s and 1960’s for Belform have recently gained in value on the vintage market and are sought for their Scandinavian mid-century style, more industrial. His famous pieces are the Model S5 Armchair, the Dining Chair Model S3 and the Sabena Lounge Chair.
