Paolo Lucatello, The Saint Marc place, Oil on panel, late 20th century
Paolo Lucatello, signed.
Oil on panel, framed, representing the mole and the pond of the Saint-Marc Place in Venice. The view is made from the Punta della Dogana. This framing allows us to see gondoliers on the Great Canal in the foreground and the Doge’s Palace and the Campanile of the Saint-Marc Place in the background.
This painting is in the famous tradition of veduta paintings, which strongest representants were from the 18th century, like the very talented Venetians Canaletto and Guardi. They loved to represent in an extremely precise way architectural views from Venice to satisfied the requests from clients who have made the Great Tour.
Signed by Paolo Lucatello (born in 1943).
