RARE AND NICE LOUIX XV STYLE LITTLE CLOCK, SIGNED « MAISON AUGUSTE LEMAIRE »

Auguste LEMAIRE creates his house at the 10 rue Saintonge in the Marais, Paris. Quickly, he has a reputation of creativity and quality. During the 1855 World’s Fair, he was awarded with a medal.

In 1862, House LEMAIRE moves to 121 rue Vieille du Temple in Paris. Auguste LEMAIRE has a reputation of Renaissance and Henri II objects maker, particularly clocks, andiron and chandelier. He worked with famous craftmakers and artists. His collaboration with the famous sculptor Albert-Ernest CARRIER-BELLEUSE, Auguste Rodin’s teacher is famous.

Gradually, he makes Louis XV and XVIIIth century object. Our clock belong to this period.

This size and style of clock is very rare and typical of XIXth century. The quality of chasing is the sign of a very good skill.

LEMAIRE house’s productions are very sought after on the art market : 3825€ for a clock (Aguttes SVV, 04/05/2013, PAris) or 20 000¥ for another clock and two candelabras (Christie’s, 09/22-23/2009, Amsterdam).
